Eid Themes/Outfit ideas

Salam Alaykum & Hello, So sisters we are about the third of the way through Ramadan masha'Allah, I hope your fasting is easy on you, and accepted insha'Allah.

As you all will know from my earlier post on Eid, i love Eid.. so i am putting some thought now into creating a nice atmosphere for Eid.. insha'Allah. Eid is such a beautiful time and after salat/sadaqah at the masjid i love to carry on the feeling by doing something special in our home. So maybe decorate your rooms with home made decorations (great acivity for the kids) make a cake and decorate it (great again for the kids), cook nice food, ring your friends wish them Eid Mubarak, why not invite some friends over, exchange some token gifts to your loved ones masha'Allah. I have found some great polyvore sets, insha'Allah they will give you some inspiration for things you can do in your own home.

Ramadhan Mubarak!!

A new night
beginning of the sacred month
the thin slice of the crescent
visible only a few minutes
to the naked eye

Awaiting the news, here, far away
in a land pretentiously secular
with In God We Trust
visited only on Sunday

Awaiting watching the Internet for the crescent news
And some calls made
Relatives far flung: Chicago, New York, London,
Frankfurt and Los Angeles

Yes! The crescent has been sighted! Ramadan Mubarakh!
Over miles and miles and miles of telephone lines

The masjid schedule consulted, and alarm clock set.
For the meal before first light

Work the next day, same tempo, same schedule.
The boss and co-workers say; "Oh, you're fasting?" "Why?"
Unable to comprehend the beauty of a simple ritual:
"Come, we're going to see a movie after work; we wont make you eat"(!)

Going home, 1/2 hour before sunset
from the 9-5 routine, never ending, never changing

Arriving home, break fast with some friends
meal cooked the night before.

Remembrance of Ramadan in Karachi, Casablanca, Lahore, Cairo
and Dhaka

Tears, and anger expressed today: Murder and slaughter on this day!
Killed in prostration!
Where Abraham (peace be upon him) lies!
Martyrdom in a Holy month!
On Holy land!

And hope expressed: Our faith desecrated,
but,
fastest growing in America!
A simple prayer; perhaps one day we will fast in San Francisco,
as we fasted in Dhaka, Cairo, Lahore, Casablanca and Karachi

And the fast is broken
and later friends and family
mill around, some content
others tired, angry, grieved
and all somber
on this day of Ramadan...

As Salaamu Alaykum and Hello,

I first come across this video on a fellow bloggers website who is christian, we had always been civil but she stuffed this video down my throat and pushed her luck in saying its all factual!! i am a market analyst by trade and could see it was all hypothesised! and not factually correct, yet she could not see this as truth, just me as Muslim having a fit!! how ignorant.

So i started to do a reply to this video, but the BBC have beat me to it, they did a better job than i could off.
